Blog Contest Winners

GameRiot’s inaugural blog contest has ended. Its been an incredibly active month but as the dust settles the victors are now certain; though certainly not what you expect. Who would have thought a month ago that on a site filled with arena commentary a Starcraft blog, a casual WoW blog, and a troll who was more than meets the eye would take home the cash? Not I.

Third Place – Lipton
Prize $100

Lipton’s blog, Starfeeder, is based on material posted on Lipton’s own website and includes info and media on all things Starcraft and Starcraft II with a few pictorial anecdotes thrown in for fun.

A Stracraft blog in a Warcraft world, Lipton had his work cut out for him. An early lead in the contest from his Kotaku’ed “A Gamer’s Wedding” may have helped Lipton hold on to some momentum. But throughout the month he was forced to contend with a tide of WoW blogs that could not be overcome. Still, props to Lipton for fighting the good fight and bringing some variety to WoWRiot’s content.

I first read about this tool off Problogger.net Darren Rowse’s blog the famous Australian problogger.

Its a tool that suggests links, images and articles while I write my blogs pretty nifty actually. I wasn’t sure I wanted to install it until I tried out the demo and released it automatically embeds links to keywords AND formats images in the blog post! I was like oh-oh shooo gotta install this NOW! lol
